PLENTI COOKSCHOOL CALENDAR – JANUARY TO APRIL 2010 Thank goodness summer is here and with it the arrival of classes on Barbequing and Mediterranean styles of cooking. For the sweet tooth, we bring back the ‘Cooking with Chocolate’ class where you can learn how to make our famous Avocado Chocolate Truffles as demonstrated by Chef Peter Blakeway on TV1’s Breakfast programme – just in time for Easter! And again we are running the popular kids’ classes in the school holidays.
BBQS & SALADS Mon 8 February, 5.30 to 8.00pm or Sat 13 February, 9.00 to 11.30am $50.00 Learn how to barbeque meat, fish and vegetables, plus make some lovely salads and dressings. A great one to get the guys into cooking!
FLAVOURS OF FRANCE Mon 15 February, 5.30 to 8.00pm $50.00 This practical course takes everyday ingredients and turns them into classical French dishes like delicious pork rillettes, easy duck with red wine and chocolate sauce, fabulous cassoulet and classic crème brulée.
BAY OF PLENTY ON A PLATE Thurs 18 February, 5.30 to 8.00pm $50.00 Following on from his recent appearance on Sky TV’s ‘NZ on a Plate’, Chef Peter Blakeway demonstrates several easy & stunning recipes using regional produce, including that perfect lemon tart with Deinlein Lemon-cello!
COFFEE BARISTA TRAINING Mon 8 March, 5.30 to 7.00pm or Sat 10 April, 10.00 to 11.30am $30.00 Learn how to store and grind your beans, as well as how to froth milk and make the perfect cup of coffee. Only 6 per class for a more ‘hands-on’ approach.
FLAVOURS OF ITALY Thurs 11 March, 5.30 to 8.00pm or Sat 13 March, 9.00 to 11.30am $50.00 “To eat an egg laid within the hour and bread baked within the day and to drink wine from the new harvest never does any harm” (Sicilian proverb.) Learn how to make pasta from just two ingredients, with Open Ravioli of Wild Mushrooms, followed by deliciously rustic Goats’ Cheese Gnocchi, easy risotto and a wonderful Pannacotta dessert.
EASY SUMMER ENTERTAINING Thursday 18 March, 5.30 to 8.00pm $50.00 Here we demonstrate a wonderful selection dinner party dishes perfect for the summer months, including a seafood entrée, a lamb main course and of course the quintessential Summer Pudding!
FLAVOURS OF GREECE Sat 27 March, 9.00 to 11.30am $50.00 Delve into this fascinating cuisine and learn how to produce classic dishes such as traditional meze, spanakopitta, moussaka and baklava.
COOKING WITH CHOCOLATE Mon 29 March, 5.30 to 8.00pm $50.00 Just in time for Easter….discover the truth about’ real’ chocolate – it is good for you! We also show you how to make a wonderful ganache for truffles and chocolate tart and also a savoury chocolate sauce.
COOKING FOR KIDS I (AGE 6 TO 10) Wednesday 7 April, 10.00 to 11.30am $30.00 Great fun for the school holidays, learn how to make delicious gourmet pizzas from scratch, as well as sweetcorn fritters and gluten free blueberry friands. Only 6 children per class to allow for a more ‘hands-on’ approach.
COOKING FOR KIDS II (AGE 10 TO 14) Thursday 8 April, 10.00 to 11.30am $30.00 During this session we will be making fresh pasta with a couple of different sauces and our famous chocolate and raspberry brownies. Only 6 per class.
COOKING FOR KIDS III Wednesday 14 April, 10.00 to 11.30am $30.00 Learn safe knife skills, how to make savoury crepes with an easy yummy sauce and classic crème brulée. Only 6 children per class.
COOKING FOR KIDS IV Thursday 15 April, 10.00 to 11.30am $30.00 A new class for kids! Learn how to produce a 3 course meal for your family, including fillet beef with polenta croutes and easy lemon posset!
CHEESE-MAKING Mon 19 April, 5.30 to 8.00pm $50.00 A new class, where we discover the basics of making ricotta, mozzarella and a variety of soft cheese. We also include a couple of recipes with cheese.
All classes are $50.00 per person, except the ‘Cooking for Kids’ and ‘Coffee Barista’ classes, which are $30.00. The session price includes a glass of wine, juice or a coffee, all recipes and tastings. We cannot confirm places without FULL payment prior to the class. Plenti Cookschool reserves the right to cancel classes if the required minimum of 8 participants is not met, but will endeavour to give at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation. A full refund will be given or a credit towards a future class.
